About the Tests

The International Football Skills Test (IFST) and the International Goalkeeping Skills Test (IGST) are the global benchmarks for objectively measuring footballing skill and set the gold standard for testing players.

By removing subjectivity from player assessment, the IFST and IGST provide coaches and players with a clear and accurate measurements of baseline skills and development needs.

How it works

The skills tests happen in real life, on a pitch organised and run by a coach or teacher. After the test, the examiner enters the scores on this website and the WFEB creates a certificate and saves the result on the WFEB database. That means players can track their progress over time and clubs can check certificates later when someone applies for a team or a trial.

New to the WFEB? Here’s how it works for you.

The WFEB authenticates the International Football Skills Exams which players can do in person with a coach or teacher. Players get a score and a certificate. The result is saved on the WFEB database so it can be checked later by clubs, schools, scouts, players or parents.

Elite

Elite standard would be expected from the world’s top players. This category can perform with impeccable consistency across all skills bases. International footballers may achieve this level.

Professional

Professional standard would be expected from players who earn a living from the game. This category can perform with almost perfect consistency across all skills bases. Footballers at professional clubs should aspire for this level.

Semi professional

Semi professional standard would be expected from those who are on the fringes of professional football. This category can perform several of the skills with the highest level of consistency. Players progressing from academies into professional football should reach this level.

Academy

Academy standard would be expected from youth players who are training within professional academies. This category can perform several skills with high levels of consistency. Younger players who have ambitions of professional football should aspire for this level.

Junior academy

Junior academy standard would be expected from those who excel at amateur and grassroots football, or from younger children who have been accepted into professional academies. This category of player can perform several of the skills with consistency.

Merit

Merit standard would be expected from those who regularly play recreational football within a team and have developed a good standard of overall skill.

Pass

Pass standard would be expected from those who are new to the game and for those taking their first test.

For coaches and teachers

Run exam days and issue certificates in a consistent way.

You run the tests in person, then enter the scores online. The website calculates the totals, creates the certificates and saves the result on the database.

We recommend that you arrange to undertake multiple tests at the same time. You should set the examination fee at around £25 per player, though coaches may charge more.
